Job Description: Part-Time On-Call Care Caregiver
Primary duty is to be available for regularly scheduled shifts with our clients in their homes as well as emergency on-call shifts during the hours specified. Other activities may include training and orienting new caregivers, and periodic onsite monitoring of existing clients. Must have a reliable car and be willing to drive to clients home within our area of operation.
Job Description: Part time (24-32 hours) CNA’s primary duty is to be available and complete regular scheduled shifts as well as be available for emergency on-call shifts during specified hours. Other activities may include training and orienting new caregivers, client visits, start of care for new clients, until a long term replacement care giver can be identified and assigned and occasional assistance with office/admin tasks.
Must have a certification (CNA, HHA, PCA etc.) and experience assisting people with ADL’s (activities of daily living)
Schedule: Required to be available (from any location as long as you can be reached and prepared to arrive where you are needed within one hour)
Compensation:
Guaranteed 24-32 hours per week pay
Assigned work at $18 - $19 per hour
Any hours worked that are more than 40 hours in a week, will be paid 1.5 regular rate
Holidays:
Holidays present a special challenge because many of our clients still require services and some of our regular aides are unable to work. Aide in this position will be expected to work on holidays (see list of holidays that Home Helpers of Farmington Valley observes). If aide wants to take off one of these holidays, he/she must coordinate in advance with the office. Any hours worked, or on call, on holidays will be paid at 1.5 times the rate. (We make EVERY EFFORT not to call upon our backup aide on special holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving. We exhaust ALL OPTIONS before we resort to that.)

Primary duties and qualifications
Requirements (MUST HAVE):
- Currently have a valid and active CNA license
- Have at least 3 plus years’ experience working as a CNA
- Must have a reliable vehicle
- Willingness to travel in own car
- Willingness to work on very short notice
- Respectful, kind, compassionate and professional demeanor
- Knowledge of various personal care procedures and techniques
Requirements (PREFERRED):
- Have dementia experience
- Good communication skills
- Hoyer and sera lift experience
- Past on call experience preferred but not required
Responsibilities:
- Fill shifts when other caregivers call out (may be short notice)
- Provide quality care to new clients until suitable replacement is found
- Provide training and skill enhancement to caregivers where needed
- Provide feedback when necessary to supervisors about clients
- Follow care plan that is provided
- Assist with the activities of daily living and personal care including but not limited to:
- Bathing;
- Mouth care;
- Dressing;
- Hair care;
- Feeding;
- Toileting;
- Medication reminding;
- Skin care; and,
- Exercise.
Expectations:
- Accept all shifts offered. Missing only a maximum of 3 per calendar month
- Report any planned absences at least one week in advance
- Be available even during inclement weather
- Attend orientation and necessary trainings
- Respond to texts and calls from supervisor in timely manner
- Send in weekly mileage report in timely manner
